CWEB.com - Media News Company Gannett Company Offers to Buy Tribune Publishing for $815 Million in Cash
CWEB - Gannett said it would pay $12.25 a share, 63 percent over Friday's closing stock price. Tribune, Publisher of the Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times, said it hired advisers to look over the plan. It will take $900 million to get the deal done in cash. Acquiring Tribune newspapers in Los Angeles, Chicago, Orlando, Baltimore and Hartford, Conn. “fills a number of geographical gaps for us," Gannett CEO Robert Dickey told USA TODAY.
